About Emily

Emily is a cellist, soprano and educator located in Princeton, New Jersey. She was a member of the Cape Ann Symphony during their 2022-2023 season, and joined the chorus of Boheme Opera, NJ in 2023. In 2024, she founded the Iolanthe Opera Company: bringing non-traditional stagings of Gilbert & Sullivan, Mozart and more to Mercer County NJ. Emily offers cello lessons at her studio in Princeton, and at the New Jersey School of Music in Medford.

Emily began studying cello at age six, and her teachers included Mimi Morris-Kim, Lynne Beiler, Victoria de la Cruz, and Derek Barnes of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She studied with Jeffrey Solow at Temple University, and served as graduate assistant to Dr. Lawrence Stomberg at the University of Delaware. As part of her rigorous orchestral training, Emily attended the prestigious National Orchestral Institute and the Pierre Monteux School. She was also a cellist with the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra and the Philharmonic of Southern New Jersey, and served as Assistant Intern Conductor of the Delaware County Symphony.

An experienced freelance musician, Emily has performed professionally with the Claflin Hill Symphony, the Wellesley Symphony, the South Orange Symphony, and the LUX Orchestra Initiative. She has experience coordinating and arranging wedding music, and is currently on the roster of the Highline String Quartet.

Emily is also a coloratura soprano with a wide range from E3-C7, and she has been known to sing pop and jazz covers while accompanying herself on cello. She pursued her love of classical voice in 2020, studying with Katie Pelletier and Jessica Lennick. Her studies led her to a love of community theater, especially the works of Gilbert & Sullivan. In addition to singing in Boheme Opera NJ’s professional chorus, Emily’s theater credits include Alma Hix in “The Music Man” with Moorestown Theater Company, Gretchen in “The Grand Duke” with the Sudbury Savoyards, and Mistress Quickly in “The Merry Wives of Windsor” with Dragonfly Theater. Backstage, Emily has served as stage manager for “Iolanthe” with Arlington Friends of the Drama, and stage manager/costume assistant for “Marriage of Figaro” with Opera Magnifico. She will be co-producing and costuming Iolanthe Opera Company’s inaugural production of “The Pirates of Penzance” this fall.
